What is Reiki?

The word Reiki is made up of two Japanese words – Rei, which means “God’s wisdom or Higher Power” and Ki which is “the universal life force energy”. The word Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy”.

My definition of Reiki is that it is pure love! Whether I am giving or receiving Reiki the effect is the same. After a session I emerge with a strong sense of love and connection. The sensations of love are sometimes overwhelming.
Reiki brings one to a place of ultimate connection to all living things. The energies lift the vale that keeps us trapped into believing we are separate from others. To me, this is the essence of true healing!

Reiki is an intuitive modality as the energies direct themselves where they are needed. You may come to a session intent on healing a certain physical malady, and instead discern that your emotional or spiritual path gains momentum instead.

A recent study indicates that in 2002, over one million adults in the US received one or more Reiki sessions. Physicians and nurses are beginning to recognize its value and have begun adding it to services provided by hospitals, medical clinics, and hospice programs. These studies indicate that Reiki reduces stress, decreases the need for pain medication, improves sleep and appetite, and accelerates the healing process. They also indicate that Reiki reduces many of the unwanted side effects of radiation and drugs, including chemotherapy.
